Liverpool is set to secure the Premier League title with a 15-point lead and nine games remaining. Arsenal's recent draw against Manchester United complicates their pursuit, while Liverpool's consistent performance continues to increase their chances of winning their first league championship since 2020.

The English Premier League title race appears to be reaching an early conclusion as Liverpool sits comfortably 15 points ahead of their nearest rival with just nine games remaining in the season. After Liverpool's come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday and Arsenal's disappointing 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday, the mathematics increasingly favor the Merseyside club.

Liverpool now needs only to maintain reasonable form to secure their first league championship since 2020 and just their second title in 35 years. The situation has created palpable tension for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who seemed visibly frustrated during his post-match interview when questioned about the title race's status.

"I don't want to say that," Arteta responded curtly when asked if the championship contest was effectively over. "Today, the frustration is that we haven't won our game. We know the urgency and we are obligated to win every single match. I don't think it's the right moment to talk about it."

Arsenal's draw at Old Trafford proved particularly disappointing given their dominant 7-1 Champions League victory over PSV earlier in the week. Despite controlling possession for much of the first half against a struggling Manchester United squad, Arsenal found themselves trailing after a brilliant Bruno Fernandes free-kick just before halftime. Midfielder Declan Rice managed to equalize in the second half, but the single point did little to maintain pressure on the league leaders.

The north London club has now dropped points in three consecutive league matches, creating a scenario where they would need an unprecedented collapse from Liverpool to have any chance at the title. This represents a significant missed opportunity for Arsenal, who haven't claimed a Premier League championship since 2003.

Growing frustration among Arsenal supporters centers partly on the club's failure to acquire a top-class striker during the January transfer window, especially with several attacking players sidelined by injuries. With traditional contenders Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United underperforming this season, Arsenal's inability to capitalize has amplified calls for silverware, potentially increasing pressure on Arteta's position.

Meanwhile, Liverpool continues their impressive form, overcoming an early deficit against Southampton with three second-half goals. Mohamed Salah converted two penalties after Darwin Núñez had equalized, extending the team's momentum despite not delivering their most polished performance.

"It's just about winning, not how we win," Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliot remarked after the match. "Sometimes, you have to win dirty and today was one of them days. We caused ourselves problems, but at the end of the day, it's three points and it keeps the momentum high."

He added, "I think we know that's what winners do really: when times are hard, what do you do? How can you come up with something to win the game? Luckily, this squad is full of them players."

While the exact date when Liverpool might mathematically secure the championship remains uncertain, their eventual triumph appears increasingly inevitable as the season enters its final stages.
