Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen secured his first NFL MVP award, edging out other top contenders. Allen's dynamic performance in the 2024 season, highlighted by 3,731 passing yards and 40 total touchdowns, was instrumental in Buffalo's 13-4 record and deep playoff run.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen added a new milestone to his already impressive career by securing his first NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Allen edged out strong contenders such as Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Detroit Lions signal-caller Jared Goff, Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow, and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley to claim the league’s highest individual honor.

Allen’s dynamic playmaking ability was on full display throughout the 2024 season. He finished the regular season with 3,731 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. His impact wasn’t limited to the air, as he also rushed for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns, cementing his reputation as one of the most versatile quarterbacks in the league.

Under Allen’s leadership, the Bills posted a 13-4 record, earning the AFC’s No. 2 seed behind the Kansas City Chiefs. Although Buffalo fell short in the AFC Championship game, losing a thrilling 32-29 battle against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, Allen’s contributions were undeniable. In that game, he threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns, displaying the poise and competitiveness that have become his trademark.

The MVP race was highly competitive, with many believing Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had a strong case for the award. Jackson led Baltimore to the AFC’s top seed, dazzling fans with his dual-threat ability. However, Allen’s consistency, combined with his ability to elevate Buffalo’s offense, ultimately swayed voters in his favor.

Allen’s MVP victory is a testament to his growth since entering the league in 2018. Once considered a raw talent with accuracy concerns, he has evolved into one of the NFL’s most feared quarterbacks. His strong arm, mobility, and leadership have made the Bills perennial contenders, and this MVP award further solidifies his place among the league’s elite.

Jayden Daniels shines as offensive rookie of the year

The night also saw Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels take home the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award. The No. 2 overall pick out of LSU had a stellar debut season, leading the Commanders to a remarkable turnaround from a four-win campaign in 2023 to a 12-win season and an NFC Championship Game appearance.

Daniels showcased his dual-threat capabilities throughout the season, throwing for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while adding 891 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. His impact was undeniable, helping Washington secure two playoff wins and proving himself as the franchise’s long-term answer at quarterback.

Daniels’ 14 total victories, including the postseason, tied former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the most wins by a rookie quarterback in NFL history. His poise and playmaking ability under pressure earned him widespread praise, and he is now poised to be a key figure in Washington’s future success.

With Allen earning MVP honors and Daniels emerging as a potential star, the 2024 NFL season showcased the league’s continued evolution, with young quarterbacks proving to be the driving force behind their teams’ success.
